The small and asymptomatic lesion can be recognized by their attention and vigilance. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic skills of senior dental students of Guilan University of Medical Sciences about common oral diseases. Methods: In this cross-sectional study the diagnostic skills of 56 senior dental students of Guilan University of Medical Sciences about common oral diseases were evaluated in 2014-2015. The total number of rasht and international branch of Guilan dental students were 71.The data were collected by using Sarabadani's pictorial questionnaire that its validity and reliability were confirmed  by 8 oral medicine specialists through the content (CVR= 0.86) and Test - retest (CVI=80%) respectively.  This questionnaire had been distributed between 8 oral medicine specialists.  This questionnaire was consisted of three questions about opinion assessment and eleven questions about skill evaluation also, powerpoints were used for image presentation. The data were analyzed by using SPSS software and t- independent test. Results: of 56 students with average age of (24.59±1.58) participated in this study, 25 students (44.6%) were male and 31 (55.4%) were female. The average score of diagnostic skills of senior dental students of of Guilan University of Medical Sciences was 0.37±0.24 . The average score of diagnostic skills of senior dental students of Rasht dental faculty (0.44±0.25) was significantly higher than the average score of diagnostic skills of senior dental students of international branch of Guilan dental faculty (0.28±0.19) (p=0.11). In Rasht dental school , the score of diagnostic skills of female students(0.47±0.23) was higher than male dental students(2.09±0.60)(P=0.267)  and in international branch of Guilan dental  school, the score of diagnostic skills of male students (0.29±0.20) was higher than female dental students (0.23±0.15), (p=0.552). However in both faculties there was not any significant difference between students' diagnostic skills and their genders. The findings show significant difference between location of study and acquired scores about ulcerative (p=0.049) and exophytic(p=0.050) lesions. Conclusion: Diagnostic skills of dental students of Guilan about common oral diseases was weak, therefore it is recommended to adopt new educational techniques and greater interaction between medical and dental staff for achieving higher educational skills.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between students' academic performance and studying approaches. Methods: in this cross-sectional and correlational study 291 students (male and female) were selected among the students of Birjand University of Medical Sciences through stratified random sampling method in 2014-2015. The instruments used to measure studying approaches included Marton and Saljo (1976) questionnaire. The total mean scores of the students were considered as an indicator of their academic performance. The data were analyzed in SPSS software using t-test, ANOVA The significant level was set at p≤0.05. Results: The results showed that there was a significant correlation between surface approach and academic performance where surface approach accounts for 6% of academic performance. Fear of failure, lack of goals, memorization of senseless and irrelevant materials, and  were the strongest negative predictors of academic performance (p<0.001, r=-0.24). based on findings, significant differences were found in mean scores of students' studying approaches across different years (p=0.005).also,there is no significant differences between studying approaches and gender. Conclusion: This study showed surface approach as a predictor of student learning outcomes at BUMS so,acquiring high score in surface approch needs to educational and training intervention for students and holding training workshops for teachers in order to using studying approches properly and improving students academic performance. 299 Special Student-Centered Ambulatory Education Based on SNAPPS Model Ebrahimzadeh A j Ramezanzdeh kh k j Infectious Dept , Hepatitis Research center, Birjand University of Medical Sciences, Birjand, Iran. k Ramezanzadeh Kh, EDC, Birjand University of Medical Sciences, Birjand, Iran. 1 10 2016 8 3 17 23 06 10 2015 07 08 2016 Introduction: lack of attention to training medical students in visiting patients and remedial management is one of the big challenges in clinical education. Models and current patterns were used in medical education is one of the reason of unprofitable situation in this regards. Now, department –based pattern is presented in medical education of Iran consequently, students couldn’t enter in remedial process independently. The aim of this research was to study the students viewpoints about student-center ambulatory education based on SNAPPS model training. Methods: this is a semi –empirical study hold in post- test method for one group. A researcher made questionnaire in four domains was used for evaluating students viewpoints after training with SNAPPS model in 4 continuous terms. Statistical population included all intern and stager medical students (106) training in infectious wards in 4 half year of education .Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistic criteria and T-Test through SPSS software . Results: 98% of students believed that SNAPPS model leads to increase knowledge as well as improving attitude and performance were declared by 85.3% and 90.2% of students respectively 80.4% prefer SNAPPS model to traditional and current education. There is no significant differences among students viewpoints about increasing knowledge and improving attitude but there is difference in skill and preference between male and female students(P <0.05). Findings show that there is no significant differences between students viewpoints on effect of SNAPPS model and the year of education, but there is significant differences in preferences of SNAPPS model between stagers and inter students (P <0.05). Conclusion: regarding the findings of this research about quality of ambulatory education, it is necessary patterns which involve students directly in remedial and clinical training  were used also application of SNAPPS model as a student-centered pattern is suggested. 365 Special Situation of Articles Published and their Citations of Tehran and Shahid Beheshti Universities of Medical Sciences in Web of Science Database Ranjba-pirmousa Z l Zarei H m l Central Library, Guilan University of Medical Sciences, Rasht, Iran. m Knowledge and Information science Dept, Islamic Azad University, Tonekabon branch, Iran 1 10 2016 8 3 24 33 07 03 2016 11 07 2016 Introduction: Today, one of the most important concerns for universities, establishing top rating in the international Ranking systems and highest scientific productions indexed in valid databases and citation to them is the main criteria for the ranking of universities.
