This study aimed to determine emotional intelligence in medical & dentistry of basic & clinical students of international school of Guilan university of medical sciences in 2013.   Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 215 students of international school of Guilan university of medical sciences in 2013. A survey was conducted and data was collected through a standard inventory of Bar-On emotional intelligence.This tool explores the emotional intelligence to 5 scale ( intrapersonal skills , interpersonal skills , adaptability , general mood and impulse control ) and 15 small- scale deals. The reliability ( Cronbach's alpha ) coefficients for scale was confirmed 94%. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-test, and Pearson correlation coefficient.   Results: The results of this study show that no significant difference was observed between medical students’ emotional intelligence mean score (334.8) and that of dentistry (326.2). The mean of total emotional intelligence score in basic and clinical student was 344. 06 and 324.42 respectively. In five scale’ emotional intelligence, the lowest score belonged to tension control in two groups of basic and clinical students. Moreover, no significant difference was observed between female students’ emotional intelligence mean score (329.7) and that of males (333.8).   Conclusion: The results of the present study indicate that total mean score of student's emotional intelligence was more than moderate. Also, mean score od medical and dentistry students basic science course was more than clinical students. Therefore, it is recommended for more professional success, setting up training courses, seminars and workshops improve emotional intelligence skills during the students educational year.

Also, information technology has provided an opportunity to improve the quality of education in universities. Considering students as the main component of education, this study was conducted to evaluate student's awareness of concepts, computer software and using database in Shahid Sadoughi University of medical sciences.   Methods : This descriptive study was conducted on 120 Master students of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences through cluster sampling method in 2012. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire and its reliability and validity has been confirmed. Data were analyzed SPSS.   Results : The results showed that 83/3% of the students passed computer training courses and 38/3% of them had International Computer certificate. Allocated time to use computer during a day was as follow: 43.3% of students 1-2 hours per day, 45% more than 2 hours and 11.7% less than one hour. Also in using internet 40% between 1-2 hours and 35% more than 2 hours per day used Internet. All students have email and 41/7% checked their email daily. 86/7% was familiar with Google scholar, 60% with Iranian National Medical Digital Library (INLM) and 31/7% with Medline database. Also, 85% was familiar with search engines and 81/7% with search operators. Among microsoft office software, high and low familiarity ralated to power point (60%) and access (11.7%) respectively.   Conclusion: Results showed that students had sufficient awareness of Information Technology (IT) skills. Medical education as well as higher education systems around the world has been dramatic changes. Increase the community's needs, progress, and reform in teaching approach in medical education Caused to revision in most medical school's curriculum. This research was conducted to recognize of top medical school's educational structure in the world.   Methods: In this descriptive study 100 top universities of the world selected based on Shanghai ranking system that includes Institute of Medical Sciences. Among them universities, medical schools were selected with the highest ranking in their performance. All of data were gathered based on the information available on universities website. Demographic data were analyzed by spss software by applying descriptive statistics.   Results : Results showed among the top 100 universities, 47 university medical school performance ratings under 50 .Cambridge Medical School Acceptance rate (6/3%) was the highest rate and Johns Hopkins University Medical school was lowest acceptance rate (2%) .Evaluation of Educational Curriculum features in 10 top medical schools revealed integrated and competency based curriculum further considered and most of curriculums have been revised.   Conclusion : Most of medical schools for excellence in the field of research by giving attention to international ranking system, notice to factors affecting the success of educational structure such as attractive elite students and delivery of various curriculum. 168 assessment and evaluation Survey of Clinical Evaluation Process Based on Logbook and Cognitive And Psychomotor Learning in Nursing Students Ghanbari A m Monfared A n m Nursing Education Dept, Nursing and Midwifery Faculty, Guilan University of Medical Sciences, Rasht, Iran n guilan university of Medical sciences 1 10 2014 6 2 28 35 09 07 2014 08 02 2015   Introduction: Nowadays, with the rapid growth of information, gap between theory and practice has been increased. A new approach to solve this problem is looking beyond to Clinical teaching. In this regards, one of the main solution, ongoing assessment and evaluating the education of students Log Book processes. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of booklet logbook on learning and cognition nursing students.   Method: This quasi -experimental study was done on 2 groups of 7 people from fourth semesters of undergraduate nursing students of Guilan University of medical sciences in clinical training of heart unit, with convenience method in 2 semesters. Students were evaluated using logbook. Finally, the students' scores with scores obtained from traditional method were compared by using descriptive and inferential (pearson correlation coefficient) statistics.   Result: Mean and standard deviation of students score based on logbook in clinical assessment was (17.13±1.02), it was more than student's score in traditional method (17.03±0.85). Now for having effective function, sufficient social investment and skills including self-directed learning is necessary. The purpose of this study was to determine the stat u s of self-directed learning and its related factors in dentistry and medical students based on individual and social characteristics.   Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 214 students of Guilan university of medical sciences in different courses were selected by systematic random sampling method and participated in this study, for collecting data, a questionnaire of self-directed learning readiness Guglimino was used. This scale consists of 8 domains including 58 items, with 5 point likert type. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency distribution, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (anova.t-test). Also multiple logistic regression was used to determine the factors associated with self-directed learning readiness.   Results: based on findings self-directed learning readiness status was in moderate level in 42% of credit-research. So, this study investigated the role of drawing anatomy in promoting students’ anatomy teaching.   Methods: This Quasi-experimental study was done on 380 Nursing, Midwifery and paramedical students of Langerood faculty from 2010 to 2011 over four semesters. The samples in each class were randomly divided into two groups. Half of the students in each class had a theoretical and practical education simultaneously by using audiovisual aids, body cadaver and moulage and for the others (the experimental group) the same educations plus drawing were used. The attitude of experimental groups' toward the educational methods was assessed by using a questionnaire and the results of tests were analyzed using descriptive- analytical statistics (independent sample t- test) by SPSS 18 software.   Results: The results sholwed that learners in experimental group (16±1.35) achieve a higher mean score than the other group (13±0.23) that was significantly different (P=0.03, t= 2.14). In experimental group 88.7% students preferred this method to the conventional methods. 63% of them said that this method was so attractive and 57% believed that this approach may improve their skills in clinical practice.   Conclusions: Results showed that drawing was significantly effective in nursing students anatomy education and most of them were completely satisfied with this teaching method. 174 assessment and evaluation Comparison between Student Evaluation and Faculty Self-Evaluation of Instructional Performance Mahdavi S Zare S Naeimi N Nutritional & Health Research Center, School of Health, Lorestan University of Medical Sciences, Khorramabad, Iran 1 10 2014 6 2 51 58 03 08 2014 15 12 2014   Introduction: The evaluation of faculty teaching performance is often the most important factors in promotion and tenure decision at colleges and universities focused on teaching. The aim of this study was to compare students' evaluation of teaching and faculty members' self-evaluation for improving teaching   Methods: This descriptive cross- sectional study was in health and nutrition school and 31 faculty members selected through census sampling method and 310 students who were selected randomly were participated in the study. Each of faculty members was evaluated by 10 students. The data gathering tool was two same questionnaires with point Likert scale and consisted teaching and demographic questions. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of faculty members' questionnaire was 0.87, students' questionnaire was 0.81, which shows the questionnaires' reliability. The data were analyzed by independent t-tests in SPSS-16.   Results: The total mean and standard deviation of the faculty members' self-evaluation scores was 40.82±7.52 and the total mean and standard deviation of Faculty teaching evaluation scores by students was 40.07±4.13 findings show that the total mean scores of self-evaluation for faculty members was higher than the total mean scores of evaluation by students but the difference was not statistically significant (p=0.38).   Conclusion: To promote faculty members' instructional performance, faculty member self-evaluations, in addition to Student evaluation of faculty teaching effectiveness, have been recommended as a more holistic approach 125 curriculum, Educational Planning The Attitude of Midwifery Students about Their Field of Study alizadeh sh sigharchian m Nursing & M6ttidwifery Dept, Islamic Azad University- Rasht Branch, Guilan, Iran Valiasr Hospital, Roudbar 1 10 2014 6 2 59 65 22 02 2014 17 12 2014   Introduction : The attitude of a person will change coordinated to environment. The time of studying is one of the periods of life that most of the attitude changes will happen in it. The effect of different factors in this period can cause positive or negative attitudes of students about their studying fields that will cause progress or canceling from that studying feild. This study was performed to determine midwifery student's attitude about their field of their study.   Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on all midwifery students who are studying at Islamic Azad university of Rasht in the first semester of academic year 2012-2013 . The information was gathered through questionnaire which has two parts, personal information and the questions about field of study attitudes. To determine validity and reliability of the questionnaire, content validity and Cronbach's alpha (α=0.71) were used, respectively .The data was analyzed by SPSS 16 software using descriptive and analytical statistics.   Results : The mean score of students' attitude toward their field of study was 16.42 ± 3.18 which obtained score was higher than the acceptable score. There were significant relationship between score of attitude and age of students (p=0.001) and education of mother (p=0.016) , but there were no significant relationship between score of attitude and another research variable (p> 0.05).   Conclusion: According to the result of study, the majority of students have a positive attitude about their field. It's important to know the midwifery students' attitudes because it can effect on the setting of the rules and disciplines, the facilities, planning a successful program to train capable health forces, and also making an exciting environment at the university.
