The present study was designed to assess internship students perceptions of patient safety, knowledge and their attitudes to patient safety education . Methods: This cross-sectional and discriptive- analytical study was conducted in 2011atUrmiaUniversityof Medical Sciences . The statistical population were 134people, including medical, Nursing and Midwifery students which were selected as census . The data collection instrument was a questionnaire. Results were analyzed SPSS statistical software (version 16.0), which employed the chi-square , Spearman correlation coefficient, f and LSD tests. Results: Totally , 121 students completed the questionnaire that included 62 medical and 34nursing students. Almost 50% of the students well- evaluated their knowledge about patient safety . Attitude to patient safety education were accepted with the majority of students. Based on chi-square test respondents' attitudes to patient safety education with year(P = 0.003) , sex (P= 0.001) and course (P = 0.017) were significant . F and LSD tests indicated that mean scores difference of perceptions of patient safety and mean scores difference of attitude to patient safety education in medical students was significant with nursing and midwifery students. Conclusions : the results indicated patient Safety need more attention at UrmiaUniversity of Medical Sciences which its inclusion in the formal educational curriculum, both its importance is determined for students and with training patient safety, reducing all types of errors in complex environments such as hospital can be achieved .
