Comparing the Career Development and Procrastination in Attention Deficit- Hyperactivity Disorder Students with Common students

Introduction: Procrastination is a common behavioural problem in people and research showed that impulsive is a factor in making and increasing procrastination which is also a sign of ADHD. Focusing on the importance of job in persons life, This research has studied in comparison of career development and procrastination between attention deficit- hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and normal students of University of Isfahan.

Method: The method is a comparative and causative one. The participants are BA students of university of Isfahan among whom 220 students were chosen by clustering sample. The participants were compared and contrasted in three fields through Career Development Questionnaire, Procrastination Questionnaire, and Wender Utah Rating Scale measure. They were contrasted in three groups as attention deficit- hyperactivity disorder, to be in doubt attention deficit- hyperactivity disorder and normal ones. data were analyzed through descriptive statistics as mean, standard deviation and two levels of inferential statistics through one-variable variance analysis (p<0.01).

Results: The results show that there is no significant difference between career development of attention deficit- hyperactivity disorder students, to be in doubt and normal ones. There is a significant difference between procrastination among attention deficit- hyperactivity disorder, to be in doubt students and normal ones (F= 6.47, p<.01).

Conclusion: Totally, attention deficit- hyperactivity disorder has effect on students’ procrastination. Thus medication and educational intervention to control procrastination and improving function of students is suggested.
